A night of showmanship and great music from Volta’s top entertainment figures came to display at the 2020 edition of Volta Music Awards nominees jam in Akatsi City.
A mammoth crowd thronged the Akatsi City R/C Park to witness great performances from dancehall, highlife, hip-hop, gospel to afrobeats stars.
The nominees jam, which is a kick-off event leading to the awards night, went to Akatsi this time around.
Akatsi always ball from sunrise to sundown and that was on the table for all to see at the just ended VMAs Nominees Jam held in Akatsi.
The stage, lightning and sounds was on point from the Mic to the speakers. And then the crowd as promised had come in their numbers like a locust swarm attack on a farm.The sights and sounds were crazy…
The curtain was raised by some young talents in Volta region.
Kpese boi, one of the finest stars from Akatsi gave a nostalgic performance, proving to the massive crowd that ‘good music never dies.’ He gave a live performance and thrilled the crowd to his bangers..Kpese Boy had just given the Akatsi fans a back to back performance and the fans sang along especially his “etsimade” song.
it was a huge relieve at the right time when the crowd was getting bored.Then EDEM surprise the whole house, amidst the lights going off as he came on Stage with his popular song “Heyba”, ” Toto”, “Gbevu”, “You dey craze” and other tracks then it got to “fiefour”,Edem gave the Mic to a fan who was singing along and he sang the whole song word to word. Then he dropped “Pepper dem ” and he freestyled ‘Stonebwoy’s version which got the whole crowd screaming.
Then he dropped “Girlfriend” and then “Power” which got the crowd singing along as well and he gave the crowd the chance to sing word to word. Then he dropped “Ghetto Youth” which got the crowd favourite..Then “Kpordawoe”, “The story” then “nyedzilo”, Then “over again” ; he also gave the crowd a heartwarming and memorable performance worth the surprise…He left with heartwarming message to voltarians and all industry players..
Exciting volta reigning hip hop artist , Mawuli YoungGod also came to stage to prove why he has been nominated in the “Hip hop Artist of the Year” category at this year’s awards by treating the crowd to their crazy jams.
Then a couple other Acts came but then the fireworks Edem brought on stage couldn’t be maintained until Shieshie Nitan brought the life back in the crowd with her reggae renditions
Volta Dancehall Artist “Raingad” also came to showcase a delighting performance and brought on stage his brother,Keeny Ice to throwback to their old classic.
The show, however, paused for nearly 30minutes for the Baddest Selector Tellerone and colleagues to thrill and awake the crowd with their massive playlist …
Fans of Keeny Ice started yelling for him and the organisers – Eventic Ghana – had no option than to bring him on stage immediately. The Border Boy frontman came on stage, dropping hits after hits from his catalogue..
The current Artist of the Year Barnabas came to wake the crowd up with Barcode and come and see how the whole crowd begun racing towards the stage and back into the premises to see their favourite musician.
It was a beautiful sight to see and he did leave up to his expectations with his top notch stage Art. His performance with that of Edem was the best for the night.
